This is the actual book that got my freelance writing career up and running, and that’s why it is the main product which I recommend to other writers or those considering becoming content writers.
There are many books out there now about becoming a writer, but this is the one which worked best for me in my situation, describing the kind of writing which I wanted to do.
A Quick Word on the Author
This is one of the main ebooks written by the author, Yuwanda Black. She has a lot of experience and has written loads of ebooks, and she seems to bring out new ones all the time. All of her books which I have read are always packed full of the pertinent and useful information which writers need, and I have always learned something useful from each product.
Basically, having used this ebook myself to get to where I am, I know that Yuwanda has the experience and the entrepreneurial verve to be very helpful to any writer wanting to make a real living from writing content. In fact, I still check out her website InkwellEditorial.com quite frequently for her expert advice.
Here’s What it Covers:
The ebook is described on the sales page as a complete ‘roadmap’ to success with SEO writing.
There are lots of sections to the book, and it covers how to approach clients, what to write on your website, niche writing, how to write the actual articles, interacting with clients, billing, and more.
There are lots of real examples, including a real email and real correspondence which makes it more direct and even easier to follow. New writers often love to see real examples (I know I did) so this can be very useful.
Who’s it For?
Because of the depth in which the whole process is covered, the ebook is perfectly suited to new writers who have never even written an SEO article before.
However, I think the ebook will also be useful to those who have already been writing for a while. Indeed, I had been a full-time freelance writer for a few months before I came across it, and although I knew about SEO writing already, the process for finding better-paying work was new to me.
It was also interesting to hear what a pro had to say about the mechanics of writing the articles, which actually taught me quite a lot.
Confidence From Knowing that Someone Else Has Done It
The great thing about this ebook is that you know someone used this exact process to achieve great success. And, as far as I’m concerned, the process still works fine for getting better-paying work.
There are a number of testimonials on the sales page, with others added frequently, and they all look genuine. Having been successful with it myself, I am not surprised that many other writers in my position have also experienced success with it.
What’s Not to Like?
To be honest there is not a lot that I don’t like about the ebook.
However, I’d suggest that you don’t get too carried away with some of the claims. For example, on the sales page the author writes that she got a 25% response rate to her emails. That’s a fantastic response, but it is higher than anything I’ve ever got (although that’s not to say you won’t be just as successful as she was).
Many factors will affect just how quickly you bring in work and just how much money you will make. Remember, the author had been freelancing for many years and already knew the tricks of the trade when she started out in content writing. I’d just say that, although it is a successful formula, don’t start getting worried or disappointed if your results are not quite so immediate.
Overall Impression
Basically, if you’re looking for a guide to teach you the entire process of writing SEO content from scratch (which is one of the easiest and quickest ways to start making a real living as a writer) then this could well help you to get started.
Equally, if you’re tired of writing for very low rates and want more advice on finding better-paying jobs, this could be of use.
However, if you already know about SEO and how to write the articles then you might want to invest in the cheaper pullout from this ebook on the subject of marketing (which I review here), instead of purchasing the entire ebook.
